The psychology when buying a mattress, for a higher quality of sleep, a more comfortable sleeping position and a healthier sleep outcome, then nearly US$5,000+, buy it.
Material and craftsmanship are central to comfort and health
After all, you spend a third or more of your day in bed. A mattress that is too firm or too soft can cause the spine to curve and increase pressure on the intervertebral discs, as a person turns over 10-20 times throughout the night on an eight-hour sleep day.
Therefore, we need to consider carefully the materials and processes that determine the "softness" of a best mattress online. The first and most direct way to do this is to experience it in person, lying on it and feeling it.
1. fabric, determine the appearance and feel, but also the key to anti-bacterial and mite
The fabric is the part that wraps the filling, support and edge protection, such as knitted fabric, 3D mesh, corduroy, jacquard, water jet and so on. Many brands have also introduced some fabrics with various additional features in order to meet people's higher sleep needs, like milk protein fabric, aloe factor fabric, hyaluronic acid factor fabric, silver ion antibacterial, tencel, cool feeling fabric and so on.
The combination of 1.2cm sponge + 4cm wavy cotton + 30g non-woven fabric looks well configured, but we cut open the surface layer and found that the density of the sponge used is very low, the naked eye, touch can feel the difference between it and the other models in density, hardness and elasticity.
However, the inner layer of 2.5cm super soft foam is on the soft side, which makes the fabric layer visually saggy and not firm and full enough.
The inner layer is made from high resilience foam, which is superbly resilient and breathable. This is the ideal material for sofa mattresses; with a thickness of 4cm, it is very soft and comfortable when gently pressed by hand.
2. Filling, determine the comfort and softness
Filling means that the mattress is filled with material. If the support material - the spring - is placed directly under the fabric, it will only be uncomfortable. Therefore the filling is essential, whether it is comfortable to lie on, soft or hard, is basically determined by the filling.
The common fillings are latex, palm, sponge, memory foam, etc. Generally speaking, latex is soft, palm (mountain palm and coconut palm) is hard, sponge and memory foam are also a little softer. The mainstream material that is popular is latex and the mattresses we have chosen for this review are all mattresses with latex layers.
Too thick latex, on the other hand, will result in the spring support layer not working as a support and affect the health of the spine. Apart from Westinghouse, the other four latex mattresses each have 1 or 2 layers of 0.5cm-2.5cm foam added to them.
Here is a reminder that fancy stacked foam without latex is all about saving money.
The storage requirements for latex raw materials are very strict. If the raw latex is transported back to the country of origin for processing and production, industrial ammonia needs to be added for corrosion protection and there is a long delay in the transport process; back to the country for ammonia and sulfur removal.
Therefore, imported latex from the country of origin is often of higher quality than that produced domestically. The higher the natural latex content, the better the resilience, wrapping and support, creating a soft and supportive effect; and the higher the purity of the latex, it also means more natural ingredients and less additives and synthetic agents, which will be more environmentally friendly, healthier and less odorous! In addition, there will be less powder loss and a longer service life.
Without mentioning whether it is imported or not, without mentioning the latex content, it is generally a lower quality and cost domestic synthetic latex with more additives and heavy odour.
3. Support, try to choose independent pocket springs
The combination of filling + spring determines the support of the mattress. Functionally, it is the most critical indicator of the mattress, as it is directly related to the health of our spine. The springs, on the other hand, are the core of support for the entire mattress.
The springs of the current mainstream brands of mattresses in the market are Myriad Button Spring, Bonnier Spring and LFK Open Spring, all three of which are whole web springs, in addition to independent pocket springs.
The more springs there are in a 10 inch full mattress, the more delicate the support will be
When we choose, we can open our hands to press. If five fingers can press the spring, then it is better independent, more humane. The ordinary spring system has about 700-800 springs.
However, according to the feeling of the test sleep experience officer, the overall sleeping feeling is on the hard side, and there is also the problem of poor interference resistance.
Poor interference resistance is also a common problem with the whole web spring. When two people sleep together, one person turning over or making a slight movement can affect the other person's sleep and rest, as the whole web spring can move the whole body. Not a good choice for some people who have high sleep requirements or have a hard time falling asleep.
We did a set of comparison tests by having our test sleep experience officer turn over with a bottle full of water placed next to him and you can see the bottle fall over next to the SweetNight mattress.
So how do independent pocket springs compare with each other? One is to compare the numbers as mentioned before, and the other is to look at the partitions. In order to support different parts of the body more reasonably, high-end mattresses are generally set up with partitions. Generally the zones are divided with springs of different parameters. Look at the color of the non-woven fabric on the outside of the springs. The different colors actually mean that different parameters of the springs are packed inside.

4. Edge protection, the edge of the product support
Protective edge is the edge of the mattress around the reinforcement, and is also easy to be ignored to determine the mattress is a judgment link - the edge of the product to determine the edge support, the use of materials such as high resilience rigid sponge, pearl cotton, M-type iron frame.
A good edge protector is not easy to slip and fall, even if a child rolls and jumps in bed or an adult sits on the edge of the bed, making it safer.
We asked our sleep testers, who are 185 tall and weigh 150 pounds, to sit on the edge of each mattress to test them.
SweetNight's 10cm rigid foam edge seal was a clear advantage, and the thicker foam added support to the edge.
The safety and health of our mattress was the focus of our experience.
